Awareness Programme in Basic Ornithology, 2010-11
 
The Course in Ornithology was started in 1996 with following objectives: 
  • Networking of amateur and seasoned birdwatchers
  • Orient participants to the scientific component of bird watching
  • Increase volunteer base for BNHS 
A total of more than 550 participants attended this course since 1996. The field training programmes for previous batches were conducted at Tansa, Periyar, Point Calimere, Parambikulum, Corbett, Ranikhet, Sattal, Annamalai, Chilka, Sikkim, Pench, Nannaj and Melghat. Besides this there were several overnight outings were organized.
 
Rules and Regulation
  1. Course will commence from April 2010
  2. Duration: One Year
  3. Minimum qualification: 15 years and above
  4. The authorities will hold the right to change the timetable in unavoidable circumstances
  5. Field outing at Point Calimere is compulsory (mostly held in mid October)
  6. Certificates will be awarded only after completion of compulsary field outings and assignments. 
Other Details
  1. Fees: 3500/- (non refundable). Please send the fees by DD in favour of BNHS
  2. Cost for field visits is separate and on cost to cost basis
  3. Language of instruction: English
  4. Questionaire Submission: March 2010
  5. Compulsory final field visit: 5 days at Point Calimere, Tamil Nadu.
  6. Short term camps: Will be announced during the course.
  7. Registration: on or before March 31, 2010
  8. Maximum 30 participants will be registered on first come first serve basis
