Publications

The BNHS has to its credit many of the first natural history publications in India. Many of these still continue to be the primary reference source for amateurs and professionals. Some of these publications are:

The Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society has been published uninterrupted since 1886 and completes 100 volumes in December 2003. The journal publishes full length papers on original research, descriptions of new taxa, and short notes on natural history. It is published quarterly and has the widest scientific readership of Asian periodicals, being the most important journal of its kind in the region. Vol. 100 (2 & 3) is a special centennial issue of over 450 pages with scientific papers by invitation.

The Hornbill is a colourful quarterly publication for members in which popular accounts of natural history, conservation issues and research news are presented. The Hornbill has completed more than 25 years of publication.
