Matheran Herpetofauna Camp

Step into the enchanting forests of Matheran and discover the hidden world of reptiles and amphibians after dark. Join us for the BNHS Matheran Herpetofauna Camp, an immersive field experience designed for nature enthusiasts, students, photographers, and wildlife lovers eager to explore the remarkable herpetofaunal diversity of the Western Ghats.

Under the guidance of experienced BNHS naturalists, participants will gain hands-on experience in observing and understanding reptiles and amphibians in their natural habitats while learning about their ecology, behaviour, and conservation.

Camp Highlights
 Guided Night Herpetofauna Trail to observe nocturnal reptiles and amphibians in the forests of Matheran.
 Guided Morning Nature Trail to explore the rich biodiversity of the region.

Learn to identify fascinating species such as the Bamboo Pit Viper, Green Vine Snake, Common Wolf Snake, Deccan Banded Gecko, Bush Frogs, Shieldtails, Skinks, and a variety of forest-dwelling reptiles and amphibians.

Expert guidance from BNHS staff throughout the programme.

BNHS Members: Rs. 2,450 per participant
Non-Members: Rs. 2,950 per participant

Camp Exclusions Please note that acco
mmodation and meals are not included in the camp fee. Participants are required to make their own arrangements for stay and food in Matheran. Suggestions for accommodation can be provided upon request.

Registration will be confirmed only after receipt and verification of the camp fee. Camp fees are non-refundable.
Participants are expected to follow all instructions provided by BNHS coordinators and naturalists during the programme.
Outdoor activities are subject to weather conditions and may be modified if required for participant safety.
